The method estimates 1) the relative roles of genetic and environmental effects that are in common to the two measures, but also 2) the role of genetic and environmental effects that are specific to extreme range scores. Examination of these results provides insight into the type of genetic model that underlies dimensionality (e.g., a single gene of large effect or polygenic models). The examples presented here focus on the relationship between Neuroticism, a normal personality trait measured by the NEO-FFI and Anxiety, as measured by the DAPP-DQ, a measure of personality dysfunction. -- Kazuo Shigemasu <kshige (at) bayes.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp>
